The dissection week has arrived, and with it much excitement as well as nerves. We got off to a great start to day, though, and I am enthusiastic about taking you through one of the best experiences in science.
Make sure to pay attention at the end of class, as you will have homework assigned every day in the coloring or dissection packet.
On a separate note, I have finally posted the Study Guide for the Final Exam in the Exams tab at left. Print it out, if you can, and get working on it right now. The earlier the better so you won't be stressed out trying to cover all the topics the day before the exam.
The Study Guide is part vocabulary list and part questions. I would recommend the following strategies to reviewing with the Study Guide:
- Organize your binder and make sure you have handouts on all the topics.
- After downloading/printing/getting the packet from me, skim the packet and highlight very unfamiliar terms or topics you struggled with in the past.
- Write notes down next to vocab words to remind you of their definition.
- Answer any questions you find, making notes of ones you need to come back to later.
- DO NOT attempt to tackle this study guide without your BINDER and BOOK open next to you for reference. Allow yourself to look things up - that's called STUDYING after all!
- Bring questions to me during class. Ask me things, that's what I'm here for. Go on, I dare you to stump me.
- Make flashcards, quiz a friend, ask a friend to quiz you, divide the work, etc. Whatever works for you, try it!
Anyways, that is just a short list of advice. We will meet three times next week for review, so that means you have to be working at home independently as well.
Good luck!
